He is renowned for his dramatic and comedic roles , and is considered to be to be an American cultural icon. Thomas Jeffrey Hanks was the father of Janet Marylyn, a hospital employee, as well as Amos Mefford Hanks (an itinerant chef). His mother was named "Fraga" while his father was mostly English. Tom was raised in what he has called"a "fractured" family. He has no acting experience in college and credits the difficulty he faced to be cast in a university production with launching his career. He walked into the city, and auditioned for a community stage production. He was then asked by the director of the play to Cleveland and then his acting career started
